POSTPARTUM DOULA
"The moment a child is born the mother is also born. She never existed before, the woman existed but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new."
- Rajneesha
The first weeks postpartum are filled with wonder as you marvel at your newborn babe. No matter how you birthed your baby there is a recovery period to heal physically, a reorganization of roles and responsibilities in the family, and some (or a lot of) lost sleep.
Having extra hands with knowledge about infant care (and not a relative) can be helpful. I truly love newborns and the rawness of new parenthood. It is so intense and so fleeting. My goal is to give you some ease so you can take a breath and be in the moment with your baby (or babies).
Postpartum doulas provide families with information and support on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from childbirth, infant soothing, and coping skills for new parents. They might also help with light housework, fix a meal and help incorporate an older child into this new experience.

PAYMENT INFORMATION
My goal as a rural care provider is to be accessible and a community resource. I offer sliding scale discounts and accept barter for a portion of my services. Current barter interests include childcare, organic food, garden help and supplies, home improvement, and small business guidance. Please consider paying the full fee so others can benefit from discounted services and I can sustain my business if you: own your home, health insurance covers most of your health care costs, are fully employed or able to choose to work part time, have assets that will, or currently, contribute to financial security.
